There are portapottys here.
Don't get me wrong, this place is kept up very well and is still worth visiting. I just fear it will get to point where it will loose its feel of the original purpose of open beach access/camping for 4 wheel drive vehicles. Visit while its still enjoyable.
This is one of the last few places you can actually drive your vehicle out on the beach to access the ocean front. Just for that it gets the 4 stars as I know its not an easy thing to keep open and maintained.
Nice place to camping on the shore but warning, better to do on weekdays because on weekends it's very crowded and noisy, music all over the place.. it's nice to enjoy the ambient with everyone but when is time to "go to bed" ... it's hard to have a pacefull time, even on sunrise. Make sure you drive a true 4x4 otherwise you'll stuck in the sand and might ending paying $100 to be tow out
Campsites are now clearly marked and have to be reserved.
Each year the state has implemented new rules and regulations and as a result the access fees has gone up considerably.
Great time. Hidden gem of the area. You can drive your 4 wheel drive vehicle as far as you want. Camp over night. Party, alcohol is allowed. Pack your food up in your car at night because there’s some little critters around. Foxes! It was cool to see them but ruined some of our food. My fault.
Love walking my golden on this beach! It's Beautiful! However, when other dog owners don't obey(pun intended) the rules it ruins it for others! Please keep your dogs on a leash!!! Their 2 dogs followed us to our truck and I could barely get into my truck because their dogs wanted to get in to get at my dog Had to leave after only 10mins...not fair :(
I used to love being able to just drive out there with no real plan and pitch a tent in any reasonable spot.
Still a great place but not as open and accessible as it once was.
The beach was beautiful and it's nice to be able to drive onto it, but upon entering, we were advised by the woman checking memberships to "stay on the side where people speak English." Offended, we entered anyway and were quickly made aware of "who belonged where" based on the confederate flag flying all over the place. Huge disappointment.
